What drew you to working in a school environment, and what do you find most rewarding about your role at ��������?

My initial motivation for working in a school environment was very practical—supporting my own children. I found it increasingly difficult to manage care during school holidays, particularly when leave didn’t always align. Working within a school community provided a natural balance between family and professional corporate life.

Over time, however, what has become most rewarding is the sense of connection and purpose. Being part of a school environment allows me to contribute to a positive, supportive atmosphere for students and staff alike. There’s something very special about being part of a place where young people are learning, growing, and finding their way.

Tell us a bit about your journey. What led you to join the team at ��������?

My family and I spent most of our lives living and working in Sydney. My career has been broad, with a strong focus on support roles. My first position was in the marketing department at the Sydney Opera House, and my most recent role in Sydney was as Registrar at St Patrick’s College, Strathfield.

A turning point came when our daughter secured an apprenticeship in Bowral, which led us to find accommodation for her in the Southern Highlands. At that stage, as empty nesters, we found ourselves in a much larger home than we needed.

We were travelling to the Highlands most weekends to support our daughter and maintain the property, and it didn’t take long before we realised how much we enjoyed the area. Making the decision to relocate permanently felt like a natural next step—one that has allowed us to embrace a new lifestyle and become part of a wonderful community.

In your role, how do you hope you make a difference in students’ day-to-day experience at school?

In my role, I’m fortunate to have daily interactions with a wide range of students. I believe that even small gestures—such as a friendly greeting in the morning or a warm acknowledgement throughout the day—can help create a welcoming and supportive environment.

I also draw on the knowledge and experience I’ve gained from previous roles, applying it to the day-to-day operations of my role and supporting colleagues where I can. My aim is to contribute to a positive, well-functioning environment that ultimately enhances the student experience.

When you’re not at work, what are some things you enjoy doing or exploring?

Outside of work, my greatest joy is spending time with our grandsons—Paddy, who is two, and Charlie, who is just five weeks old. Making memories with them is incredibly special.

I also enjoy playing music—particularly the violin, guitar, and piano—as well as reading, card making, dining out, and travelling whenever the opportunity arises. I have a keen interest in languages and enjoy studying Spanish, French, and German.

What do you love most about being part of the Southern Highlands community?

What I love most about the Southern Highlands is its warmth and sense of community. There’s a real friendliness and “cosiness” to the region that makes it feel welcoming and relaxed.

Each town has its own unique character and charm, and I enjoy exploring these differences—whether it’s discovering a new café, walking through a different neighbourhood, or simply soaking in the atmosphere. It’s a place that feels both vibrant and peaceful at the same time.
